Our current system in the U.S. of A. is dysfunctional. There is no way around it. Our political parties are displaying characteristics most commonly associated with parliamentary systems. Radical obstructionism has taken the place of conventional collaboration and consensus based decision making. In a two party system, excessive party discipline leads to what we have now - ineffective, hyperpartisan government where the only route to passing legislation is through overwhelming majority. This is a difficult position to be in when institutionally - we're set on two major parties.

Bring back the historic tradition of consensus building. The paralyzing effects of hyperpartisanship in a two party system will effectively destroy our republic. Obsessive obstructionist politics in order to secure the next majority is self-defeating. Our time to act is now and our tool is our vote. Time is of the essence.
